ELEANOR CROW
Falling Light
5 Fournier Street, Spitalfields, London, E1 6QE
21 June–6 July 2025
An exhibition of 38 new interior and still life oil paintings by Eleanor Crow, you can view the video of the exhibition here
Many of these paintings are made in kitchens – the hub and heart of the house, café or restaurant, and the most repeatedly visited space. Kitchens are often a repository of things collected throughout life and contain things that have been handed down, creating an ongoing history, or a story. Once these spaces were hidden away; now we want to be in them, to see what is happening there. Kitchens are like a theatre, the objects in them the props; a kitchen lays open the skill, labour and love necessary to the alchemy of raw ingredients being transmuted into food.
The ongoing activity of domestic life means that items are constantly moved or replaced, while the light shifts and changes as Eleanor paints, so that nothing is ever quite fixed. She seeks to paint those unrepeatable moments of light falling in a particular way, over particular things, in a particular place…

It’s time for submissions to the Town House Open exhibition again and please tell anyone you know who might be interested in submitting! The deadline is Friday 26th April CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT
It’s open to a wide range of media: paintings, mixed media, drawings, cut paper collage (sorry not photo montage), and original prints (ie works created solely as a print at the outset, not giclées). This year it will be in one exhibition only in July and August and I’m sorry, there is not sufficient space to include photographs.
The maximum size is A1 including any frame and although there is no minimum size, very small works (below say 15 x 15cm), are difficult to hang here. Just a reminder too that any work submitted must not have been exhibited before and should have been created within the last twelve months
Looking forward to seeing the submissions….
