This started life as a study for a larger piece of work, but I became so engrossed in it, even to the point of pruning some trees behind the house recently, that I abandoned the idea of making a larger version, as this one seemed complete already.
In terms of the time involved, the small oil on boards can often take as long as the larger canvases. There’s an intricacy to them and an intensity of mood that builds up as the paint is applied, layer after layer, until it announces it’s finished.
