Printmaking is like Christmas – that first roll of the ink onto the lino is always magical. I love flowers and gardens so I am currently working on a series of prints featuring my favourites.
I work from my own drawings in ink and then transfer to lino and spend a long time cutting before I reach that magical moment.I like to include people in my drawings, even if you can’t always see their faces (like in my submission where you can only see her curly hair). And pattern is really important to me too – the flowers in this print create a pattern of sorts with all the different shapes.
I am always drawn to the striking appearance of prints myself, so lino printing is the perfect medium for me. I’m towards the beginning of a journey into printmaking but am often told I already have a style (and it’s certainly a journey I’m loving).
