This is an aquatint and pen and ink piece inspired by walks along the River Alde in Orford, Suffolk. I grew up in Suffolk and love the open countryside and water there. I enjoy the way that aquatint and etching can offer such a variety of textures and level of detail.
I do a variety of printmaking (mainly lino and etching), and I also enjoy drawing and gouache painting. My work is mostly inspired by natural landscapes, cityscapes and interiors. I don’t have formal artistic training, but I enjoyed doing drawing and painting with my Granny and Mum growing up and have done some courses at Norwich Printmaking Hub and East London Printmakers. I enjoy visiting galleries and I am inspired by the work of printmakers including Eric Ravilious, Gwen Raverat, William Morris and more modern artists including Vanessa Lubach, Mark Hearld and Angie Lewin.
