My explorations in printmaking started at London Print Studio, where I discovered the pleasures of a practice that is both visual and tactile at a time when I was working primarily as a writer and editor. The inspiration for my prints comes from everyday activities, and my photopolymer etchings are based on photographs I take as I walk through London (and other cities) – shadows glimpsed through windows, reflections on rain-slicked pavements, a glass of wine on a café table
This print is of poppy seed heads that I harvested last autumn from a local community park where I garden with a group of volunteers. They are stored in a jar in my kitchen waiting to be sown back in the park to flower later this summer.
