Submissions are invited from artists resident in the UK for Town House Open, a selling exhibition of original work (price guide up to £3,500). The exhibition will run from mid July to the beginning of September 2022 in the gallery at Town House. Please note commission on sales will be 20% of the sale price, plus vat on the commission figure, and that the gallery will automatically have the right to offer a discretionary 10% discount on the sale price. The final date for submissions is Sunday 8th May 2022.
Paintings (figurative or abstract), must be executed in oil, acrylic or watercolour up to A1 size (including any frame). Unfortunately there is not sufficient space in the gallery to include drawings, charcoals, photographs or prints in this exhibition. Work does not need to be framed, but must be capable of being securely hung from the top using D rings. Sculpture must be easily portable by hand and free-standing. All work should have been created within the last 12 months, not previously exhibited, and one submission only per artist. The work should be supported by an artist’s statement, which will be considered part of the submission.
There will be a selection process for this year’s exhibition, which will be in two stages: – the first establishing the short list will be decided by 22nd May from the submitted photographs of the works. These shortlisted submissions will be notified and those artists will need to bring or send the actual work to Town House at their own cost by 1st June. It will not be necessary for works to be framed for this stage and the final selection will be made by 8th June, to allow a month for any framing necessary and before final delivery to the gallery by the 10th July.
Work should be submitted using this form and must include the artist’s statement in English plus medium, dimensions and price (maximum 250 words), and one jpg of the work (maximum 5 MB). There is a link to more detailed terms and conditions on this page and artists will need to check the box confirming acceptance of these before submission.
