It has been a very strange time for many of us and a difficult time for all of us in the creative sector. The Streets of London have been deserted and the City has had a desolate, lonely feel about it. Wandering around the empty townscape has been a revelation and eye opener for an artist to see the beauty of the architecture without the distraction of crowds, noise and activity.
Looking up at our great buildings I can see details I have never noticed before and lose myself admiring the majesty of Nicholas Hawksmoor’s masterpiece towering over the Spitalfields neighbourhood.
I am fortunate to be able to draw and and paint at home and throughout this lockdown have had more time than ever before to work on the things that I love, by focusing on pictures that capture the details, the atmosphere and the strange beauty of a still world.
