My sculptures explore themes of balance, lightness and hopefully a sense of joy – all of which have been in short supply over the last year or so.
At the start of the pandemic making things didn’t seem very important and visiting a shared studio space wasn’t possible. What I did have though, was time: time to reflect on what I had been making and time to think about new work. With the easing of restrictions time in studio became possible – time to experiment and time to develop new work.
The piece on show here, Geometry 650, represents a new direction for me and is the result of the time I have had to think during 2020.
