After a career in public service I went to Central St Martin’s school of art to do an art foundation course. This led to other courses in painting in oils and watercolours at St Martin’s. I have also done courses in drawing at The Royal Drawing School and the Camden Working Men’s College.
My main practice is in oil painting. I have done both abstract and figurative work. In figurative painting I have experimented in all genres, lately concentrating on interiors and cityscapes. I am interested in the work of the East London Group and have revisited some of their subjects to do my own paintings.
I continue to take classes at St Martin’s where I have a group of fellow painters with whom I have painted for 10 years.
While painting is my primary practice I think drawing skills are fundamental to any figurative art and preliminary drawings are an integral part of my painting.
