Marie Lenclos: London Fields
This is an oil painting of a corner of London I don’t know very well. I was going there for a meeting and was struck by the neat composition and colour scheme of this urban scene. The warmth of the browns on the bridge and arches is echoed by the tones of the pavement and street. The clear, almost flat, blue sky contrasts with its cool shade. The overall feel of the painting is calm, ordered, harmonious.
