My husband, Nouka, had no work through lockdown. He stayed calm and peaceful, maintaining his links to friends and family through his netbook. On sunny days, he would sit in the garden, kick his shoes off, and put his feet up against our tree. The bike is my son’s, a safe way to travel during the pandemic. The carved elephant was a gift from family in Senegal.
At times I felt anxious, but his peacefulness kept me calm.
