My work is inspired by a curiosity about the London streets and houses that surround my home in Bethnal Green and I love to walk around exploring with a sketchbook. Using a combination of drawing, painting and collage I try to capture what buildings mean and the stories they embody.
This study of Teesdale St is a pencil and acrylic colour composition taken from a shop on the corner of Teesdale Street and Old Bethnal Green Road. The study forms part of my ongoing visual enquiry into the Winkley Estate, built to accommodate furniture makers’ workshops and living space at the beginning of the 20th century.
