Living alone during lockdown became depressing at times and I missed socialising with friends and family. One of the things I used to enjoy pre lockdown was going for London walks with a friend, looking for buildings that piqued my interest enough to want to paint them. I could not see friends during lockdown, but the rules permitted daily walks and that is the one thing that kept me sane.
I came across the Turks Head in Wapping whilst on a pre lockdown walk and its pretty exterior hid its notorious history very well (many years ago condemned pirates were given their last quart of ale on their journey from Newgate Prison to Execution Dock). Although I enjoyed my lockdown walks, I missed being allowed to visit my favourite parts of London and am excited about doing so again.
