My family is originally from the East End of London and I have worked next to the Spitalfields area for over 30 years. I am interested in the history and conservation of the area and am passionate about painting buildings that tell stories about times gone by.
I enjoy including tiny details that make each property or street unique, such as door knockers, pavements, bollards, decorative stone, lampposts, window frames and other character features.
I am a self-taught artist and use acrylic paint on canvas to create my paintings. I enjoy photography too and tend to compose my paintings in the same way I would ‘frame’ a photograph. The colours I use are brighter than in real life, but that is not intentional it is just how I view the streets that I love to paint.
