This is a painting made inside the beautiful early Georgian building that houses the Art Workers’ Guild in Bloomsbury. The light levels shifted and became brighter as I painted, but a softer light fell into the atrium seen through the window, with its fused glass louvre windows. The architecture enhances the light: in the Guild meeting room beyond a glazed barrel vault roof floods the building with light.
The light over the green-grey kitchen area changed constantly and I enjoyed seeing the reflections and shadows bouncing upwards and across the units, as well as over the few items beginning to be set up ready for an event later that evening.
