This antique shop on Kensington Church Street, London, opened in the 1950s, and proudly notes such early customers as David Hockney, Ossie Clarke, Alan Bennett and Jean Shrimpton. I first encountered it when hiring items for a photoshoot for a book cover, and have returned since to buy pots and vases. I am particularly drawn to the yellow-painted hallway looking through to the courtyard. Antique shops lure us in with the promise of serendipitous discoveries, and the Lacquer Chest never disappoints.
