Annie Hall: Coffee Table
After a 5 year absence, I started painting again during lockdown. Like most people, my world became my house and garden and this made me appreciate the comfort of everyday things even more than before.
Rarely planning how I want a finished piece to look, I work intuitively, listening to the silent dialogue between the painting and myself. I use my inherent knowledge of these familiar things and plant life as inspiration, occasionally using actual items to lend their design and shape to me. It’s only in the final stages that I let my logic and reason take over to make the composition work.
